Can anyone share a list of possible System Log entries and their meanings?
For instance I'm seeing stuff like, "Jul 20 hh:mm:ss daemon err syslog: CAH:Failed to find radio for 0/wl0/" every minute or so.
WiFi is working fine. I have no idea what this error means or what I should do about it.

[DSL] Is Virgin Mobile reselling Bell FTTH?
http://www.virginmobile.ca/en/hot-offers/index.html
I'm Bell FTTH, and Virgin is saying that my home is good to go for DSL service. That means...
5/1 $35
25/10 $50
50/10 $60
So what does this mean for TPIA access? I know Virgin is a Bell brand, but...!

WTH? Rep. tells me no IPV6 HOWTO and DNS security is "confidential
WTH?
I just called in to speak with TS tech. support. After a minute or so with a trainee, I was switched (without warning) to a person training her. Then, I asked if she could provide me with an IPV6 config HOWTO, or at least some vague guidelines. Answer: There are no guidelines or HOWTOs, and there won't be until we've finished rolling it out.
Then, I asked about DNS security. I don't know anything about this, but I know there are diff. protocols and configs. She put me on hold (again) and then came back and said that information was "confidential" and we dont' give that out to customers. Huh?
How is info. about configuring DNS security confidential? Last time I checked, I don't think it allowed me to decrypt other peoples' connections, just encrypt mine.
Is this standard or did someone mess up. Also, can someone please point me to at least something to get me started with both of these things for TekSavvy?
Thanks

[Cable] High internet traffic
Hi,
Since August 4th my internet traffic has tripled and nothing has changed as far as internet behavior. My once 400GB/month limit with Teksavvy was quickly chewed up and I needed to switch to unlimited. Before August 4th I did a full cleanup, I re-installed all machines, updated firmware on my printer and went through an exhaustive password changed for all internet services.
On Monday I bought a new router changed my WiFi broadcasts and passwords and I am still seeing excessive traffic.
I did a nmap scan and no unwanted devices are on my network and I turned off equipment not in use, internal router daily traffic reports do not match what is being reported by Teksavvy/Videotron.
I am at a loss of where this traffic is coming from, has anyone else experienced this?
The only thing that hasn't been updated is my Thomson DCM475.

[Cable] Procedure in switching from Teksavvy cable to Fido cable internet
A client of mine is going to be switching (sorry Teksavvy, but saving money, faster, and unlimited), and we were just curious if there is a specific procedure to do this?
Do we have to call into Teksavvy to cancel? If we call up Fido, do they initiate the cancel? etcetc
We have loved teksavvys service, and I hope they continue to fight the good fight.... :-(

[DSL] atwater / montreal area, dsl issues ?
is anyone else in this area experiencing issues ?
yesterday my speed dropped 2/3's - turned modem off 15 minutes that worked.
today i've lost speed several times; i put in a post in help with the speed test and a few minutes later did another speed test and suddenly the speed was back to normal (i didn't turn off modem in that time frame).
i'm wondering is this is an area issue unrelated to my line / modem.

[Cable] Where to buy TC7650? (for rCable)
I thought amazon.ca had the TC7650 for a good price?
I only see it from a third-party-seller on amazon.ca, for $112. I'm a bit leery of 3rd party sellers (especially when they're NOT fulfilled by amazon) because it feels like I'm buying something from Ebay.
Any other vendors having the TC7650?

Teksavvy Network
Hey folks....
We have internal discussions around how our network should be interconnected in Canada including topics like POP locations and peering etc. I thought it would be a great idea to throw this out for discussion and feedback from some customers here on DSLR :)
No promises or anything here ... but looking for your input .... how can Teksavvy improve it's existing network to serve you better?
Thanks,
Paul

How (Un)Important Are Existing Teksavvy Customers???
How important are current customers to Teksavvy? Not very any longer it seems, which is a very disappointing change of attitude by Teksavvy.
.
Let me start by saying that my Teksavvy service has been nearly flawless for well over a decade now (customer number 61##), aside from one to two hour waits on the phone in the past, the few times I called in.
.
Now the downside. As an existing customer, I called Teksavvy customer service to upgrade my vcable service to 60/10 at the $50/month, 1-year price currently being advertised and offered to new customers, and was refused.
.
As a decade-long customer, my first year 60/10 price would be $63.95/month from day one, while someone walking in off the street today would pay $50/month the first year for exactly the same service.
.
Is this how Teksavvy now values? existing customers, and is pulling new customers in off the streets becoming more important to Teksavvy than maintaining existing customer relationships built up over years (and more than a decade) with current customers?
.
How will these new customers be valued and treated by Teksavvy once they to become existing Teksavvy customers; like today's existing customers are valued?
.
Is this the future for Teksavvy as it grows larger, playing customer shell games and turning into another Bhell or Robbers? I hope not.
.
The loyalty and satisfaction of existing customers is the bedrock on which Teksavvy's past reputation has been built. What will its future reputation be built on?
.
Am I the only existing customer refused and disappointed by Teksavvy when wanting to upgrade my service? Were you able to access this offer or were you, as an existing customer, also refused by Teksavvy?

Fan Expo Canada - Ticket Giveaway!
Hey folks,
Looks like we have a couple additional Premium Passes to Fan Expo Canada this year. I'm thinking that we'll do a random draw for anyone who posts in this thread. The draw will take place on Wednesday morning, let's say 10am?
Multiple posts won't add to your chance to win. Accommodations, food, travel, etc. not included -- just the two passes that give you some pretty awesome exclusive swag, and access to all four days of the event. Approximate retail value $169 per ticket.
The event runs from August 30 to September 2 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
And... go!

Local congestion
I'm on rCable in Ottawa (K2C) and my peak time speeds have just been atrocious lately. I've been getting ~2Mbps from about 5-8pm on weekdays in the past few weeks, and weekends aren't much better.
I'm going to assume that this is due to my local node (or whatever it's called) being over-subscribed.
Is there any way of knowing whether the xDSL options in my neighborhood would be any better?
Bell.ca says I can get up to their 100Mbps package (but Teksavvy's site says max of 6 Mbps?), but that doesn't actually mean that the local equipment is any more or less busy and that my peak-hour speeds would see any improvement.

Windows 10 Email setup
Having some issues getting the email to work reliable with the win10 email app...had to do a rebuild (somehow got a keylogger that virus software couldn't find). I seem to get intermittent connectivity with the email. Seems to just sit and try and sync for hours. Using the service through a different ISP so I think I need to set different port numbers.... I can get receive just fine. Sending is not working reliably.
Yeah yeah, I should be using different software this is just to get through until I finish with the other software on my system.

Teksavvy Smart RG 505n modems locked?
Hi,
Moved to Kingston Ontario and found best reviews and prices for reseller of Bell dsl is Vmedia. (originally ordered cable based, but we found out during install of that it seems underground Cogeco cable is broken and it will take 8-12 weeks to put a new one in so only other option in this area is dsl and only lines here are Bell)
Bought a used SmartRG 505n on kijiji that was previously with Teksavvy. Owner said she bought it outright. Shipped it to me 2 hours down the road, poor packaging and it bounced around a bit I'm sure.
Hooked it up, configured it, solid green dsl light but I keep getting solid internet red light. After speaking with Vmedia techs, uploading new firmware from Vmedia website and reconfiguring again, issue not resolved. Vmedia reset password and still nothing but solid red. They told me issue was the modem is broken.
No problem. Seller refunded me and I bought another used SmartRG 505n locally from a nice family. They'd also bought it from Teksavvy.
Brought it home, uploaded new firmware from Vmedia, reconfigured to their settings and solid internet redlight on this one as well.
When I go to the smarter IP address to config, originally with both modems, the Teksavvy logo was there and there name appeared in the file version. After uploading firmware, both now show the SmartRg logo and the files are both Clear view, so I assume they are not locked by Teksavvy.
Anyone know if they can be locked by Teksavvy? I believe the modems are about 2 years old or newer.
My understanding from reading forums before buying these was that dsl modems purchased by customers are not locked and can be reconfigured to new isp.
In the meantime, Vmedia has a ticket in with Bell to see if there's an issue on their end.
Any suggestions, thoughts? I feel there's nothing wrong with the modems.
thanks for your input.

[DSL] 516AC Rebooting Problem
Anyone have any ideas of how to diagnose/fix a rebooting problem with the new 516's? It has all the same issues as the 505N but seems to reboot at random far more frequently where as the 505 would reboot under stress (torrents could predictably crash it in seconds).
