Hello all,
Newbie here from Richmond, BC. Recently joined after finding out about Teksavvy over at RFD. Checked out the website and noticed really good prices and speeds for internet. I am currently using Telus as an ISP paying about $28 before tax and getting 33ms ping, 3.11 down, and 0.85 up.
However, I haven't found anyone that uses TSI in the Vancouver area so I'd like some input beforehand. Here are some questions I currently have:
1. Cable or DSL? Pros and cons of each?
2. How long would it take to upload a one gig video to YouTube on TSI's 1mbps speed?
3. When getting a modem am I renting it or buying it?
4. Will the setup charged be refunded if for some reason I do not want to stay with Teksavvy?
5. Is it possible for me to purchase a modem at a retail store such as Best Buy or Future Shop that will work at Teksavvy? I want to do it if it will save me money.
6. Do the modems have WiFi capabilities? We currently have 3 computers, and a couple of wireless devices (phones, gaming systems...etc)
7. Will I be charged a fee if I were to switch from DSL 6 to DSL 15?
8. For people in BC, how reliable is the service in the Vancouver/Richmond region? Is there downtime often?
By the way, if I were to sign up for TSI, I would probably go for DSL 6 or Cable 7.5. I don't really want to go over my budget of about $40/month.
Thanks all!
Any input will be appreciated. More questions will come. :)
