OK so there appears to be something wrong with your phone system again. Calling 1-877-779-1575, press 1 for English, then hear "Press 1 for other ways of contacting us, otherwise stay on the line". I wait online and get prompted "It appears your account manager is unavailable"....Whaa?

Anyone else notice an interruption a few mins ago and a few hours ago? My VPNs to other teksavy cable connected routers were up but all of them (in Kitchener) did not have access beyond each other (couldn't make it off of rogers network).

Where to download latest firmware revisions for SmartRG 515ac

Hey board... My friends have been having trouble with their TekSavvy internet (good line, but intermittent sync no surf and wifi trouble) and are still on firmware 2.6.1.3, which is known to have bugs. It looks like TekSavvy no longer offers a support site with firmware downloads. Does anyone have recent SmartRG firmware revisions available for download? Thanks :) Happy Canada Day.

Anyone into old Norstar gear?

Hey all, I just inherited a metric crap ton of Norstar phone systems and sets. I'm more of a meridian guy myself, I'm just wondering which pairs I need to wire in the Call Pilot 100 I've got the basic config programming down (you do it on a phone?!??!?! very archaic lol) Anyways, feel free to offer suggests, nerd out, or if anyone's looking for an old norstar to dink around with, hmu! I'm planning on listing most of it on kijiji and ebay, so if you want a phone switch for your hobbyist nerd cave, let me know!

[Website] Website requires dropping shields to Facebook?

I wanted to take a look at various options, including cable. When I clicked on "Check Availability" the throbber spun for a few seconds and nothing happened. Checking my logs, I saw that my firewall had blocked some outbound traffic to IP address 31.13.80.12 destination port 443. That's in Facebook's range. I killed all instances of Pale Moon (my web browser), backed up a test profile, turned off my firewall, and tried again on the test profile. This time it worked. Then I restarted the firewall, and the webpage stopped working. I disinfected my machine by getting rid of the test profile, and restoring the backed up version. This reminds me of the original Star Trek series episode "A Taste of Armageddon" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0708414/ where the planetary leaders keep demanding that the Enterprise lower its shields. BTW, hosts files are almost useless. I firewall-block all traffic, coming and going, in Facebook's known IPV4 address ranges... 31.13.24.0/21 31.13.64.0/18 66.220.144.0/20 69.63.176.0/20 69.171.224.0/19 74.119.76.0/22 103.4.96.0/22 173.252.64.0/18 204.15.20.0/22

[Cable] Cable Modem Suggestions

So of course now that TekSavvy (may their name ever be praised) has informed me that I can now opt for the 100 plan instead of the 60 - for the same monthly price, I'm all flushed and flustered about the idea. Problem is, my current TC4300 apparently cannot handle such speeds and I'm seriously considering replacing it with one that can. Sorry TC4300, it's survival of the fittest. Aside from the recommended TC4400, are there any other modem options for a QC (and therefore Videotron) user? EDIT: We do a lot of streaming (Netflix, Prime, etc.) and gaming every day, and this will be hooked up to an Asus AC5300 router.

[DSL] Upgraded Speed to 50Mbps - Speedtest shows 35Mbps

Hey there TekSavvy, I put an order in to upgrade my vDSL from 25 to 50Mbps. It appears the order was processed as Ookla SpeeTest to the TekSavvy server shows an increase but I'm only seeing 35 up and 10 down not 50. Similar results to Hell's server in TO. On the original vDSL modem with f/w FAST2864_v67428 Cheers, Bruce

[DSL] IPv6 DHCPv6-PD/OpenWRT weirdness

$

I've been a Teksavvy IPv6 user for a long time, with varying degrees of success depending on the router I'm using. I've found that when using some versions of OpenWRT/LEDE, IPv6 connectivity will work for some period of time (sometimes 24 hours, sometimes a week or more), until it suddenly stops. Fortunately, "happy eyeballs" code mostly masks the problem, but sadly Microsoft Outlook chokes when IPv6 dies. I just upgraded a new router to OpenWRT 18.06.4, and am experiencing problems again. I'd like to either resolve the issues with OpenWRT, or use it as an excuse to upgrade to cCable (same price for more megabits). I notice that when the IPv6 connectivity drops, I get the following log message: Wed Jul 10 10:57:26 2019 daemon.warn odhcp6c[7459]: Server returned IA_PD status 6 (No prefixes have been assigned) The only posting I can find online about that error is from a Telus customer experiencing similar issues: https://forum.archive.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=67305 Some commenters suggest adding option reqaddress 'none' to the WAN configuration, which disables IA_NA solicitation. Reading through the RFCs hasn't helped much... but I assume that IA_NA is unnecessary because the PtP subnet is assigned to the router through IPv6CP? I'm going to give that configuration line a try, but in the meantime, I'm hoping that somebody who's more familiar with DHCPv6-PD and/or OpenWRT/LEDE could chime in and list what works for them. My configuration is very plain: root@woodcrest:~# uci show network.wannetwork.wan=interfacenetwork.wan.ifname='eth1'network.wan.proto='pppoe'network.wan.username='xxx@xxx'network.wan.password='xxx'network.wan.ipv6='auto'network.wan.keepalive='4 15'root@woodcrest:~# uci show network.wan6network.wan6=interfacenetwork.wan6.ifname='eth1'network.wan6.proto='dhcpv6'network.wan6.reqprefix='56'network.wan6.reqaddress='none' Thanks in advance!

[DSL] Link to Teksavvy's SR516AC Firmware updates

Hello, Before Teksavvy upgraded/improved their website, there was a webpage that showed the latest Teksavvy firmware for the SmartRG modems (I currently have an SR516AC modem that I purchased from Teksavvy back in December 2018). But ever since the latest major Teksavvy website redesign, I can't find the page that showed the latest firmware update. Am I missing something is it not there anymore? Thank you, Tom Martin

Monthly Usages Glitch Since ~June 25th

I'm on cCable 40/10 unlimited. My average usage is only 300-400 monthly and I don't normally pay attention to what my downloads are. I do have CapSavvy 4.4 sitting in my toolbar and glance over occasionally to check it. What I noticed today was that usage was unusually low (34.6 total for 11 days). I know that we stream a little daily but the number in the toolbar didn't even add up to my normal one or two day usage and it's almost the middle of the month. I logged into my router to check usage and it shows ~155 so far for this month. I logged into my TSI Account and it appears that this issue have been ongoing since ~June 25th when the low numbers began to appear. I realize that most people are on unlimited and don't look/care what their numbers are, but just wanted to make sure that TSI is aware of this glitch and work on a remedy for this. Is it just cCable subscribers? Other platforms? What changed around June 25th? Not going to open a ticket in the Direct forum as I don't feel I'm actually impacted in a monetary or technical way. EDIT: Just double checked TSI account and actually the low numbers began to appear on June 26th
