I'm hoping TekSavvy stays focused on telecom...

I chose to leave Start as one of my providers because they've decided to get into the broadcasting game. Now I'm exclusively with TekSavvy. I just don't trust it. In my opinion it's a big conflict of interest for a broadcast provider to also be a telecom provider. It smells too much like ROBELUS. What's next? They'll create their own media content and force it on their internet customers? Then what? Fight against net neutrality in order to promote their content and reduce the competition? And just like ROBELUS.. it's also required that you use their own internet service if you want their TV service..

[DSL] Former Teksavvy SR505n - Disable Wi-Fi Completely?

$

I have a Teksavvy-branded SR505n that I'm using with a different TPIA now, having a slight issue where I can't disable the Wi-Fi on it on every reboot, it just comes back on. Usually I can press and hold the WLAN button at the back and it'll turn off, but somehow the button stopped working and I had to connect to the web UI with my laptop to disable it from there. Question is, is there a way to completely disable the Wi-Fi on it and not have it turn back on every reboot? I'm already using it in bridged mode. PS - Something wrong with the forum's search... I can't even search "SmartRG", it just keeps coming up as blank. Think it tries to search TekSavvy Direct but when I click the TekSavvy tab it just shows me all the threads again.

[TekTalk] TekTalk issues?

Just had a call drop to a fast busy about 3 times. Pinging voip.teksavvy.com is showing 30% packet loss. My link is otherwise good - both the DSLReports speedtest and link quality are showing good and pinging www.teksavvy.com shows no drops. Anyone else seeing issues? Anyone from TekSavvy able to confirm?

[DSL] Very slow SSH session over both IPv4 and IPv6

Hi I am trying to work on remote systems over SSH but that latency is very bad over DSL. Text entered takes around 10 to 30 seconds to show up in the terminal. I have not changed any network settings and also tried using the SSH client in the router connected directly to PPPoE and the problem is still there. Does anyone notice this issue on DSL?

Instagram images don't load or are extremely slow on Teksavvy

I noticed a few people in the direct forum had subject titles referencing Instagram. Also when I called support they said they are aware of the issue and blamed Instagram. Anyone else experiencing this? Its a very odd problem. The app and website load but the images either resolve as grey boxes or load maybe 5% and then stop. I'm not experiencing any other internet problems at this time. Only Instagram.

[DSL] Attacks by other TekSavvy customers on my host

Hey TekSavvy, I'm a longtime customer. In the past 5 days my Linux server firewall has logged 1800 attempts to access and portscan my host including repeated attempts to telnet in, from a handful of hosts with TekSavvy addresses. This is clearly in contravention of your TOS. I previously emailed abuse@teksavvy.com about this behavior but did not receive the courtesy of a reply. I am therefore escalating it to this pubic forum, as this behavior and your apparent unwillingness to do anything about compromised or malicious hosts on your network likely affects other customers, not just me. Being attacked by hosts that are provided with an internet connection bt the same company I pay money to every month isn't acceptable. After you confirm here that you will respond to my offline communications this time, I will attempt to do so. I will update this thread with a followup message about your effectiveness in dealing with this problem. Thank you.

[Cable] Does Teksavvy block Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1) [rCable]

$

The subject field says it all :) Just wondering if Teksavvy/rCable blocks usage of Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1) by customers who configure that value into their home router. For example, my router is configured to use 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1 as the dns server, instead of "default" - and my home network devices are configured to use the router (192.168.0.1) as their DNS server. The reason I ask is, "dnsleaktest" indicates my devices are still using Teksavvy DNS, even though I have Cloudflare set up on my home router.

Cable WiFi modem included?

I'm looking at signing up for service in Calgary. There is a big ad on the cable internet section that a WiFi modem is included on select plans. However I can't find any info on which plans this applies to, and when I go to check out it's showing full price for the modem. Anyone know the details of this deal?

I noticed that Cogeco has released the new TPIA Tariffs that indicate the 360mbps and 1gbps offerings: https://crtc.gc.ca/8740/eng/2018/c6.htm Will TekSavvy be offering these speeds in the next few months? Or should I not hold my breath just yet?

What does this IPv6 test mean?

Can somebody please explain to me what do these tests mean? I did an IPV6 test on my router(Apple AirPort Extreme). However, as far as I know, I don't think Teksavvy has IPV6 implemented yet. So, how come I've a perfect score? Is my cable line mixed with DSL line? Perhaps, Rogers has tapped my line?
