Multiple public IPs on rCable?

Can Teksavvy provide multiple public IPs to the same modem? I want to set up a secondary network running pfsense without interrupting my current home network which runs off a regular all-in-one router. Can I throw in a switch between the modem and two routers or do you only provide one public IP per connection?

Hey I’m just wondering on what else I could do regarding this issue. First off I had a thread few months back but forgot the dsl info to login so made this account. My modem had issues when in router mode so I use my own router which is no problem, I managed to solve one of my issue thanks to a teksavvy worker. Though my modem is fine now I still get some kind of dns issue like 2-3 times a week(rough estimate) sometimes the internet down for like 5 minutes other times over 30 minutes. Pages stop loading and I’m given “ DNS PROBE FINISHED BAD CONFIG”. I’ve had Primus for like two years same dsl speed never had this dns issue, so what can I do to fix this? Do I need manually set something on my router settings? If so what and how?I’m getting tired of having to unplug Ethernet or power. Sorry if this is a long read, just want to browse without unexpectly getting disconnected at odd times. Any input is appreciated.

My uncle left Teksavvy (Cogeco) and wants me to sell his modem. It's the TC4300.E. Is the modem compatible with all Teksavvy (Cogeco and Rogers) plans? I don't want to mislead people when I sell it. Thanks.

[DSL] Obscure DNS problem solved - ST516 Bridge Mode

For a long time I've had an intermittent problem where DNS failed to find common hostnames and I'd need to reload web pages several times. Of course, I blamed one of TekSavvy's DNS servers for not responding... Adding additional DNS servers seemed to reduce but not eliminate the problem. Finally found the probable source of the problem. I'm using an ST516 ADSL modem in bridge mode. For an unknown reason the intrusion detection system (IDS) on the modem was active, and the modem's security log showed UDP scan attempts from the DNS servers, as well as from the additional DNS servers I'd manually selected (1.1.1.1, 9.9.9.9). Since disabling the IDS the problem has not re-occurred (yet). Re-running setup for bridge mode on the modem didn't disable the IDS, but logging in and using the command line interface from telnet did. The IDS state can be seen on the modem's Toolbox page. For reference, the cli commands from a telnet session are: ids config state=disabled saveall exit Thought I'd post this here in case anybody else encounters the same problem.

Hi, did something just change on teksavvy smtp servers which is causing my mails (relayed through postfix) to be blocked/not arrive? Here is the error message: Oct 9 18:19:23 xxxxxxx postfix/smtp[23635]: certificate verification failed for out.teksavvy.com[69.196.175.157]:1025: untrusted issuer /C=US/O=DigiCert Inc/OU=www.digicert.com/CN=DigiCert High Assurance EV Root CA Oct 9 18:19:24 xxxxxxx postfix/smtp[23635]: 41115394041B: to=, relay=out.teksavvy.com[69.196.175.157]:1025, delay=1, delays=0.19/0.04/0.39/0.38, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 ok: Message 47982963 accepted) None of the emails sent are arriving. What's causing it and if it's on my end how can I resolve this? edit: looking at the logs the earliest email this started with was 17:01 today, October 9 edit2: mails are finally arriving now - guess it was just an intermittent problem?

Direct forums seems to indicate other folks in the same boat as me. I unfortunately can't read their post so unsure what is being said exactly. Anyone else unable to connect ? It's now nearly 8am. I tried powering modem off for 15 minutes.

Hello, I was sent here by teksavvy staff. My question is about dns servers. The teksavvy staff was not able to help. When I use a dns server test via online companies, it shows me that i have an asian server, hi net, and one site shows me as having 91 Tawain -Taipan servers, each with a separate dns address. my location is west coast canada. my ip seems to be accurate. If someone can help clarify what this means, that would be great. Apparently the average is up to two dns servers. Thanks.

Anyone using tektalk with other internet service provider (other then Teksavvy)? I am planning to keep tektalk and change the internet from teksavvy to bell (teksavvy does not offer dsl where I am moving).I know tektalk just needs an internet connection to work but interested in knowing if there maybe any potential issues( like specific ports that had to be opened etc) when you are using bell internet and tektalk. Thanks! Jigar

Frequent Disconnects

Hello All, I have been with Teksavvy for about 2.5 months, switching from Rogers. Since I have started Teksavvy, I have encountered frequent disconnects and drops, just about every day I am home. These disconnects can last anywhere from 30 seconds to upwards of 15 or 20. Additionally, the exact same issue was happening when I was a Rogers customer, and is the reason I switched. So far, through support, I have tried the modem router combo I purchased (a Technicolor DPC3848), as well as a separate gateway modem and router combo that they sent me (Hitron CDA3, SmartRG SR400ac), and the issue has been consistent across both devices. The usual error I get when it drops is an IP config message. What normally happens (mostly with the Hitron from Rogers and the Technicolor, the Hitron gateway seems to stay solid lights for the most part, though it does go through this process as well) is that every light on the modem drops except the power light, and then they all seemingly work through the typical restart process (upload light comes on, then download, then @, then connection is restored). Oddly, despite this issue happening randomly every day, tech support can never seem to detect or even see that there was any kind of outage to my service. A tech has been out to our place a few times, and the issue is never fixed after they're gone. I am convinced the issue is with the network beyond my house, but is there anything I can do to diagnose and fix the problem? I have saved an event log just after the issue happens (attached), and have some information I have sent the customer service techs as well if that is of any help.

Any guess on how long until FTTH is available to TPIAs?

Bell just did a big FTTH rollout in my area (Westmount / Montreal) and are now offering 1.5Gbps down / 940Mbps up for less than my current cable connection with Tekaavvy of 1Gbps down / 50Mbps up. I'm having a hard time choosing between morals and that sweet sweet upload speed (software developer / sysadmin that works from home). Unless there is something sneaky with how Bell packages their service (I've bee a customer of theirs before, I'm going to do my homework before committing to anything) I'm going to have to switch :'(

I've started using a VPN (P.I.A.) more lately, and I just found out I can't send an email while using the VPN. I use smtp.teksavvy.com on port 25 with no connection security and no authentication (because this is what has always worked for years). I use Thunderbird. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Fall EPIC Deal

Is it possible to get a raincheck? I am moving end of the month, and I will be finalizing the move in procedures (getting my lease signed, etc) by end of next week. I am currently with CIK FTTH - I am a happy user of CIK, just that they don't offer fiber at the new location. I really wanted to give Teksavvy a try, and would like to take advantage of the Fall Deal!

Is there an issue with SMTP? Haven't been able to send email since 10am: "The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.teksavvy.com timed out. Try again." The issue persists even after restarting the computer. No problem with POP3. I am in Etobicoke.

Hi, We currently have Teksavvy cable 60/10 (Via Cogeco). We would like to upgrade to 120/10 service with Teksavvy. We already own our modem, so what would be the total cost to upgrade to the 120/10 service? We seen the monthly price on the website; we just aren't sure about any other fees which may be added to the first months bill. Thank you!
