Here's link to latest 2.5.0.4 firmware including the Release notes. There is a quite long list of bug-fixes that I'm sure many will benefit from.
FYI I'm running it on SRG for about a month without any issues.
The usual disclaimer: Use at your own risk! This is not official Teksavvy release.

[Outages] Ottawa East (Beacon Hill) vDSL Outage
About 16:30 my vDSL connection stopped working. The Sagemcon Fast is blinking blue (not synching) and I have dial tone at the demarcation. I’ve power cycled the modem a couple of times but still no joy. Spoke with Mei Ling at TekSavvy and she’s opened a ticket with the company whose name rhymes with Hell.
Service has been solid for 2 or 3 years now.
Any ideas what to look for on the modem (it’s in bridged mode with Tomato on a Rt-AC66U) to see if I should start shopping for a replacement. My moneys on the DSLAM at the node.

[DSL] The best VDSL modem
Hi guys, What is currently the best VDSL modem compatible with Teksavvy? Looking for lowest latency and best stability and it will be operating in a bridge mode. I know this is not exact science, but would appreciate some recommendations.

[DSL] PCIe Modem
Hi Everyone, Last night I came across a PCIe VDSL modem. I've been looking periodically for something like this for years. It's the DrayTek VigorNIC 132
Data Sheet PDF: http://www.draytek.co.uk/download/VigorNIC132_Datasheet.pdf
WebSite: http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/business/vigornic-132
Given the tech specs it looks like it should work with Tecksavvy but I am NO expert in this regard. Can someone (Maybe from TechSavvy) make a comment? Is there anything major missing from the data sheet that would torpedo this device straight away?
I fully realize this is unsupported hardware, and that it's impossible to know if something will work until it's plugged in and tested. So I won't be upset if it doesn't work. I'm just looking for some input before I order it.
Thanks for your comments.
Jeff.

[DSL] Tired of renting modem
Hi folks, after many many many years of paying $8/mth to rent a modem (perhaps 10 years = $960) I am wishing that Teksavvy would simply let me keep it and stop charging me. However, as apparently I have to buy something to get off this train, I am wondering what my options are.
Stability is my top criterion. I'm using a CellPipe 7130 RG on 25/10 DSL in bridge mode, works very smoothly and is stable right now. But it galls me to throw more money at old tech. Should I buy Teksavvy out for this modem? Or should I go new. And if I go new, what should I buy?

[DSL] Modem or short Teksavvy outages Thornhill?
I lost connection (7/1 DSL) approximately 15 minutes ago. Turned modem off, and back on a couple of minutes later, and re-connected fine. Had a similar disconnect overnight. A couple of possibilities...
1) My ST546 modem is over 10 years old (Nov 2007) and may be going flakey. I do have a SmartRG505N "waiting in the wings", but I'd have to change my RFC 1918 subnet to 192.168.1.X on all my computers, so I'd prefer to avoid if not necessary.
2) This may be a real network disconnect. I'm a bit north of Dufferin+Steeles in one of the condo complex near the retirement home.

[Cable] ipv6 on rCable coming soon?
Hi just wondering if teksavvy has decided to let rogers assign their IPv6 address spaces to customers over cable yet?
I know it's a loaded question but my question relates to information I read on CRTC site.
http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2012/2012-96.htm
As a paying customer for internet access, I feel I'm entitled to access IPv6 sites, because to me IPv6 is an important slice of a growing movement online.
To me it seems teksavvy don't want to let rogers assign their address spaces, but I know this is pretty old information ( circ.2012 ).
If I'm incorrect, of if anything newer can be said to explain teksavvy's IPv6 position over rCable, please share. I don't want to have to go to rogers, to get IPv6.
I'm having problems with sites like netflix blocking public solutios like hurricane electric's 6in4 tunnelling blaming geolocation reasons (i know not your problem) but looking at that as a solution TS can offer to customers, so that the equipment and address assignments could be fully managed, at least it could be an option for customers that really want IPv6, and TS can guarantee that the IP Source is canadian.
Thanks for the read thru.

[Cable] Switch from TSI to Carrytel
Just wondering if I can not cancel TSI (yet) but start with Carrytel.
Basically I don't trust Carrytel that much & want to make sure their services works, I don't mind paying for both for a month.
Can I do that or would it be like trying to park two cars in one spot?

HomeHub3000
I am contemplating switching away from Bell since my current deal is expiring and they refuse to give me anything other than regular pricing. So I was looking at TekSavy and wondering if the Bell HomeHub 3000 which I purchased and own will work and I can keep using it?

[DSL] Teksavvy P-660R Modem keeps dropping.
After a bad wind storm here that left us with no power for three days my dsl modem now keeps dropping and reconnecting, it is doing this constantly like every 5 minutes. I have defaulted and reprogrammed the modem but no change. No cabling issues on my end (verified). It's a dry DSL service with the modem in bridge mode. Internet light is off but I have never seen that on even when the service is working. Have setup with laptop>router>modem>demarcate jack. I do not have another modem to try, this one I had to buy when I signed up for the service.

How much notice is needed for cancellation + what to do with modem
Hi, I will be moving in July assuming my unit is finished, and while I've been quite satisfied with TekSavvy over the years, internet service is included in the rent for my new place. So, I'm wondering how much notice does TekSavvy need for cancellation?
Also, since I won't need my modem any longer, is there a buy-back program, or is there any interest in used cable modems (DCM475)? Mainly asking just to keep it out of the landfill, not that I expect to make any money off this thing.
Thanks!

[DSL] Profile 7/1 DSL
I was on a 7/1 DSL profile that allowed me to reach 7MB down and 1MB upload speeds before a Bell technician knocked down my line when doing another installation.
Got a very pleasant visit from a Bell technician today to reconnect my line. All went well. I reminded him I was on a 7/1 DSL profile and he set it up and left.
Happy to be back online but I seem to be on a lower profile than before:
Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin: 13.0 13.5 db
Line Attenuation: 7.9 8.-1 db
Data Rate: 7296 797 kbps
Do you think I could ask to bump it up a bit to get a solid 1MB up?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Terrible site design change
So I wandered over to the Teksavvy site because I'm considering snatching up a TP-Link 7650 off Amazon and upping my speed profile from my current 60/10 to 250/20.
This is the current state of the "details" page for the 25020 r-cable package:
https://teksavvy.ca/en/residential/internet/cable/rcable-250
I have at least 3 grievances with that page:
* It doesn't actually list the upload speed anymore. Pfft... who wants actual specs when they click a link for "detailed info," right?
* It only lists the unlimited option. There's no mention of the slightly cheaper 200GB option. that is still offered, right?
* Could you not rub the promotional rate that you're going to refuse to offer me in my face? And Derbie Girl can go skate off a cliff, as far as I'm concerned.
This is just bad form. I'm genuinely disappointed because I've come to expect better from you.

[Cable] Modem Question
Hi Folks,
Im considering on returning to TS, but have a question regarding modems.
Does anyone happen to know if a thomson dcm476 would be able to be used/re-activated? Its the exact same modem I had as a customer up till a couple of years ago.
Realizing that I would only be able to get a 60/75 downstream connection at best.

[DSL] So is Bell BS me?
Hi there,
Curious, is Bell is BS me? I got one of those door-to-door Bell sales people. Somehow, my area seem to support 50/10. The sad part, recently, my line was crap and Teksavvy get a tech to fix it. My line can't go beyond 15/1, both Teksavvy and the Bell tech both confirm. So should I go report this?
Ju Leon...
