[Cable] Can someone using the TC4350 please confirm the power consumption

$

Howdy My TC4350 was finally activated today but it reboots every couple hours. Sticker on the bottom says 12V 1A, included power supply is the same. Using a PoE splitter so I can accurately measure the power, it is actually drawing 19 watts (19.5 for the splitter's power).. I think this is the first time I have come across a device that is using more power than the specs indicate. Wondering if I have a defective modem or if this is normal, curious if this is why it is rebooting (heat from taking more power - not using the supplied 1A adapter, so it isn't being starved for power)

[Cable] SCable Modem Options

Hey there, I was just wondering if anyone had some ideas for Shaw TPIA Modems. The two modems offered for 150, are both Puma 6 chipsets. I'm trying to get away from the Hitron I have on Shaw now, without having to sign a contract to get the new puma 7 from them... Any suggestions would be welcome, or if there is a new modem on the horizon, that would be good to know. Thanks

SmartRG 515AC issues?

Hello, So a family member recently upgraded to 15/10 and go a new SmartRG 515AC modem. I have noticed that 5ghz band is either not working or you will be lucky to get a speed test that will actually run. But when connected to 2.4ghz it's fine and you get full 15/10 speed as they should. We have done the regular of rebooting the modem, I changed the wireless network name and password and the settings all look to be normal but under 5ghz is barely works and singly strength is up and down when I'm only 2-3 meters away from then modem. Anybody know of any issues with the modem? I'm currently thinking it may be defective. Thanks

I noticed that some other companies are offering 75/10 Unlimited at a significantly lower price (one-time fees like activation and modem purchase not withstanding but everyone is fairly competitive.) Teksavvy: $54 Carrytel: $39 CanNet: $40 (-$10 with promo code=$30) EBox: $33 (12 months)

fido and virgin are attacking teksavvy with these free months or $30/mth for 12 mth unlimtied plans... it's tempting...hard not to jump on these... but remember..once teksavvy's gone, we will pay MORE to the big 3... saving a few dollars now is tempting but it means losing much more later. (fido even had a disclaimer about teksavy on their website, directly attacking them)

Coming back to Teksavvy

Hello, was a long time user in Ottawa with TSI DSL and was so happy... moved to a city that my new home did not have copper wire to the home and so I have had Fibe internet for the last few years. Not happy with Bell's pricing and my kids seem to consume way too much internet so I am coming back to TSI on a 150/15 cable package. Looking forward to being back in the TSI community!

Bell installing new lines, can I get some more speed plz?

Noticed Bell across the street, new box with a tent over it, going in and out of manholes and new lines coiled up in on the telephone poles where my line connects. Neighbor said they were installing fiber. Question, DSL is terrible here 6meg service, guessing I'll be able to upgrade that in the near future? I have been thinking about switching to cable but that might be pointless now. thx

[DSL] Tier 2 support response times?

Just wondering if anyone else has any experience of response times from the TekSavvy Tier 2 support team. I initially contacted by phone with a cable issue on Friday evening, then followed up with a post on the TekSavvy direct forum on Saturday morning, saying it would be immediately escalated to Tier 2 support. Still waiting for a response. Presumably they have more people working on these issues during the week? In the meantime, we have no home internet and are rapidly running out of data on our phone plans! It's easier to say "Just don't use the internet" than it is to actually do it!

After reading this article I'm confused: https://www.thestar.com/business/personal_finance/advice/2018/04/23/customers-shocked-to-find-their-rogers-yahoo-email-being-read.html Is it all Rogers (as in rcable) being read or all Yahoo email being read?

Hey - I have Teksavvy Cable and Rogers TV currently. I want to cancel Rogers TV. Are there any steps I should take to make sure they don't accidentally cut the whole line and leave me without internet for a few days. Any best practices would be appreciated.

[Cable] TC4400 by Xmas? :)

So, if you pay attention to the other TPIA forums, you'll have noticed that the TC4400 is now "CableLabs certified" - which appears to be a stepping stone for Rogers' (and other providers') approval. In the EBOX forum, their rep seems to think that Rogers-approval is coming soon. So, what do people here think? Could the TC4400 get rCable-approved by Xmas? (of this year!)

Hi everyone! I'm soliciting some help from users that using Teksavvy's cable and DSL service specifically in Quebec. I'm wondering if you could ping the IP address 144.217.246.159 from your Teksavvy cable or DSL connection and let me know what your latency is to this address. For reference, to check latency you only need to do the following (on Windows): 1 - Press Start 2 - Type cmd 3 - Press enter, should open a new black command prompt window 3 - Type: ping 144.217.246.159 4 - Press enter In a few seconds you should see something like this:quote:Pinging 144.217.246.159 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 144.217.246.159: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=51 Reply from 144.217.246.159: bytes=32 time=12ms TTL=51 Reply from 144.217.246.159: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=51 Reply from 144.217.246.159: bytes=32 time=12ms TTL=51 Ping statistics for 144.217.246.159: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 11ms, Maximum = 12ms, Average = 11ms If anybody could do this for me and paste the result as well as whether they have cable or DSL, I will owe you a cookie :D Thanks guys!
