Hi,
I tried to see if this question was answered already but there were so many topics with conflicting information.
I am currently on the Cable 25 Pro plan with 400GB.
Is it possible for me to upgrade to the Cable 30 with 200GB plan with my SB6120 modem?
If so, can I simply trigger the upgrade request using the Teksavvy Portal through "Upgrade Service Package" or is it better to post on Direct Forums or call in?
Thanks in advance!

[Cable] DCM476 modem question
My partner used to have cable a up until a year and half ago and bought a DCM476. Now is there anyway to know for certain that her proper was properly unprovisioned before I give it to my brother who wants to use TS. I doubt the company she was with would have any record.
Thanks,

update to my very old speedstream 5360 modem
So i have a very old speedstream modem and my current dsl speed is 7 mbps. If i want to upgrade my speed i will need to change my modem. Teksavvy has the sr505n for sale. But i was wondering if the sr501 would be adequate. I don't need all the routing fonctions in the sr505n, i'd like to keep my current router.And where can i buy the sr501 if it works with teksavvy? For the moment i'm looking at the 15/10mbps.
Thank you

[DSL] can't get what bell offers
Wondering why I can't get a 10mbit DSL line from TSI when I currently have 10/1 service from bell (used to be at a 12mbit profile but it caused some disconnects and lost packets). I keep getting told by customer support I can only get 3mbit and that they wont even sell me that because they dont want to offer sub-par service and get a bunch of unhappy phone calls. my line is great, i had bell guys here 5 times and they finally fixed everything. i always get my full speeds when i test and next to no disconnections. if you resell bell why can't you offer me what they can? You're missing out on profits... TAKE MY MONEY!!!

[DSL] Switching from DSL to dry DSL?
I currently have DSL and home phone, and planning on porting out the phone number to VoIP. My understanding is that doing this would then terminate both my phone and DSL service. My current understanding is that dry DSL is treated as a new service, and there is no such thing as "switching" from wet to dry DSL.
What is the currently-accepted method of switching to dry DSL without downtime? Is the only option still to go through the trouble of installing a second line before cancelling the first? Or is there now a method to tell Bell to keep the DSL service and treat the line as dry DSL once the phone service ends?
Thanks!

[Cable] Early Christmas Present from TekSavvy
Thank you for the email I just received! Merry Christmas!!
Hello,
We have some good news about your service with us. As you know, your current package with us for OIDxxxxx is Cable 30 Pro, with 400 GB of non-overnight download usage at a monthly cost of $54.95. (Uploads, and overnight downloads between 2 and 8 am, are unmetered.)
Well, starting with your first billing cycle on or after Monday, 16 January 2017, your package will become Cable 40 Pro, with 400 GB of usage at a monthly cost of $48.95. No action on your part is needed, as the change will happen automatically.
We're happy to be able to offer better value as a result of a change in one of our key costs of supply, wholesale network access. We connect our own network up to incumbents' last-mile accesses, where they exist, in order to serve you. A recent CRTC decision, known as Telecom Order CRTC 2016-396, made interim corrections to the price ceiling that incumbents are permitted to charge for wholesale access to last-mile access.
Correcting wholesale network access rates to a fairer level lets us create more savings for our customers, get back to innovating on service and features, and -- we hope - spur a more competitive telecom market in Canada. We believe that that's very positive for consumers. We invite you to sign our "#ThanksAgainCRTC" form here, and we will let your government representatives know you're pleased with these changes.
One thing. This is an unprecedented announcement for us, and pretty rare anywhere. We are lowering rates for hundreds of thousands of customers. So we are expecting very high call volumes as people begin to call in to check if this is real -- and higher wait times as a result.
Please bear with us. If you're considering changes in service, or have questions about this price change, we invite you to complete our "Call Back" form here, so we can have someone call you back within seven days; or to connect with us and our community either through social media or through online forums, like DSLreports or Reddit.
Thank you for your continued support.

Another outage...
I've been with TS for about 7 years now. I hate Bell as much as the next guy. But, I can honestly say in 10 years with Bell, I never had a single unplanned outage. TS service is rife with these though. I'm watching a movie. Go to a forum after, only to find I have no internet service. A couple of reboots later and all is well. But I have to ask why I lose service with TS so often. I asked this before and was greeted by the fanboys saying they can't be responsible for Bell's emergency service. There's no emergency here. It seems more like incompetence. I'm still waiting for something better than 5gig DSL. Please, for the love of any god you choose to worship, TS get your ass in gear and start acting like the moderately sized ISP that you now are!

My data to canadian cloud storage.Does it cross US border?
Hey Guys.
Just wondering if my personal and company backup data would be routed through the US to get to this Canadian based cloud storage company on a Teksavvy rCable connection?
http://www.sync.com/
They claim :
------
"Ensure your company meets data privacy compliance guidelines and legislation - important if you operate in a regulated industry.
US - HIPAA
Canada - PIPEDA, PIPA, FIPPA, ATIPPA, PHIPA
100% Canadian (not subject to the US Patriot Act)
Data is transmitted from, and stored at rest in Canada"
------
What I'm wondering is if my data will still be routed through Chicago or something, enroute back to the Canadian Cloud storage company.
I don't really know how to test this myself. If someone with more routing knowledge could chime in that's be awesome.

Lying Bell Retention agents.
So is it normal that Bell Canada Retention agents blatantly lie about Teksavvy to try to keep business with Bell. She kept trying to say that Teksavvy is a shared network and that if alot of people in your area were to start downloading it would slow down but Bell is a dedicated. I even tried to explain that there is no last mile difference between Bell 50/10 FTTN and Teksavvy 50/10 FTTN. She kept insisting there was when in fact there isn't. Has anyone else experienced these shady tactics?

Switching phone from Bell to TS viop, got e-mail from Bell
I'm helping a relative change their internet and phone to TS and away from Bell. TS internet (cable) is now active and working. Went through the motions on TS website to sign up for Tektalk digital, and move telco phone number away from Bell a few days ago. Today get an email from Bell:
==============
Weâve heard youâd like to cancel your Bell service(s). As you are a valued client, we want to make sure that this is indeed the case, and would really like to speak with you prior to your cancellation to ensure you have all the information needed to make your final decision. Itâs not too late to explore your options. Please call a member of our team at your earliest convenience and mention code (alpha-numeric-code) to discuss what we can do for you.
If you still wish to proceed with your service cancellation, please review whatâs required to complete your cancellation request. This will help ensure your transition is as smooth as possible.
===============
There were a few html links in the email. I told relative not to click on any of them. I don't know what sort of mine-field Bell has waiting on the other end of those links.
I'm wondering - what exactly are these things that should be "reviewed" to "complete the cancellation request". I wasn't going to have them contact Bell and cancel existing telco and DSL internet service *UNTIL* I know that their telco number is safely in the hands of TS.
So do they have to do anything with Bell at this point - or not?

Outage Feb 14 2am
There seems to be a DSL outage occurring. Was on the TSI Tech phone line waiting for about 20 minutes to get an agent. When I got through, they are not yet sure what was causing the outage. The agent recommended an update to the login info switching out @copperdsl to @pppoe and that along with a modem and router power cycle seems to have fixed it for now.

[DSL] Downtime going from DSL 15/1 to 15/10 or 25/10
Should I expect or anticipate any downtime in going from 15/1 ADSL to 15/10 or 25/10 VDSL in Ontario?
I am curious if I should have a "plan B" in the event the internet is down for days. Thanks.

[Cable] Cisco DPC3848V: login credentials?
I purchased the Cisco DPC3848V as part of my cable order. Everything has been successfully installed and I have Internet connectivity.
Given that this is a modem/router combo device, I'd like to login to its web UI to change the SSID, password, etc. Most sources online cite that the login user is "cusadmin" with the password being what is printed on the label. This doesn't seem to work for me.
Any thoughts?

TekSavvy High Ping in the evening...
Hey! What's up TekSavvy and friends. It's 10:40AST at the time of writing this. I called to reactivate my TekSavvy internet again after getting tired of the ever increasing bill from Aliant. Got my credentials right away and they work, but noticing some issues.
This afternoon, everything was fine. Put in credentials and ping to most of my VPS servers in various locations are fine, better than Aliant I must say. However evening is a whole other thing. I had this issue before, this is what ended up getting me to switch back to Aliant last time on a retentions offer they made back in 2015 when I first tried TekSavvy. Pings in the evening seem to sky rocket. Games like CSGO become way more latent, and while it's not highly jittery, it's still much higher than during other times.
Just to double check it's not something on my end, I disconnected everything and decided to test ping 8.8.8.8. This time, I have the ability to compare. I entered my Bell Aliant PPPoE credentials, followed by TekSavvy credentials in the modem on the exact same line without resynching. No changes except who I'm authenticating with, and this is the result:
First ping is on Bell aliant, second is teksavvy
[att=1]
Traceroute on Aliant (Did this on my desktop where rest were on laptop wifi hence less than 1 first hop but the difference is subtle. It's because I'm lazy and didn't want to login the teksavvy line's router again to change back to aliant just for traceroute because I think it still makes the point, though I can if needed)
[att=3]
Meanwhile with TekSavvy
[att=2]
Seems to be first hop after my home router is insane.
I'm assuming this is congestion on the network here in the east coast, so are there any plans to fix this?
