Hey guys...I have a SmartRG 505N on the way and want to put it into bridged mode on my 15/10 line. Are the configuration files located here...
https://help.teksavvy.com/hc/en-us/articles/200173909-SmartRG-505N-Configuration-Files
...still valid and OK to use? Or, are there newer configuration files that I should be loading (or possible a whole different method for getting it into bridged mode)?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kristin.

[Cable] Seeking recommendation on buying a new modem
Hello all,
I have a grandfathered modem (the SB5100) bought in a yard sale for 5$ a long time ago that is still faithfully serving my Cable 10 Pro package in Quebec. I recently started to work from home and, I can't stand 10 mb down 1.5 up for work anymore :) I want more but since the SB5100 is only DOCSIS 2.0, I have to get a new modem. And I've got some questions...
- I'm seeing everywhere on this forum lists of approved modems for other providers, and the lists are always filled with a lot of models. Teksavvy's website only lists DCM475, CDA-RES and TC4300 as approved. Is there a more complete list somewhere or are theses really the only 3 possible choices in Quebec?
- Of course, my first instinct is to look on kijiji and such to get cheaper second hand models. I see a lot of those three approved, but some of them says they bought with other providers (mainly ebox). Are the modems locked to providers, or I could buy an ebox modem to go plug in teksavvy's service?
- And about the possible models... What should I consider when buying them? I mean, if they are all approved, are they basically the same, or are some better then others? What should I think about when choosing a new modem?
Thank you for your time!

Colborne cCable down?
Wonder if weather related. Internet has been done for a few hours. No outage information on TekSavvy site. Rebooting modem and direct connecting does nothing. DS light just flashes on modem.
Anyone in the Cobourg/colborne/Brighton area experiencing issues?

terrible connections all day with edmonton teksavvy dsl(telus?)
our teksavvy dsl has been off and on, slow and broken, then back again, all day today
for an hour at a time, 4-5 times today, internet has ground to a halt when web pages wouldn't load, netflix buffered to a hault-then disconnect(time out on reconnect)
occasionally it will be just extreeeeeemely slow loading even an imgur image, one single hd image would take 1-3minutes to load(miraculously not timing out)
facebook will often time out before completing a full page, after loading individual elements one at a time over 1-3 minutes (often just time out with a white page - but no 404)
(this is consistent across 3 computers and smart tv and 3 phones, also one at a time, we've been frustrated with this all day)
weird part is that the internet status doesn't reflect this issue - the router never actually says 'no internet' (except on the phones with an orange "!")
double weird(and the reason i mention telus in the headline) is that during two of the worst times today, i we were also unable to connect to the telus(also wind-through telus towers) cell network
the two times were directly synced, too direct to be coincidence (4 bars but orange "!" on data)
at the moment it's currently back to normal enough that i can get back into dslreports, but wack results on some of the diagnostic tools here
anyone else?

Teksavvy has arrived at the DaRk Side
Teksavvy IS BELL
I have been with Teksavvy since the days of Rocky and I have unfortunately watched this company move form a small, responsive ISP to a BELL HELL replica.
A simple speed change now requires at first a long hold time, then a ridiculous amount of authorizing and copious notes. Then I had to provide THREE days where I was going to be home for a 4 hour window "in case" the tech needed to visit my home.
All that, and then they screw up my bill and take out an extra $25 off my card on the next invoice.
Another call, another session of answering all the identification questions, only to be told I then have to be transferred AGAIN to another department.
Finally at accounting
. "Yes sorry, I see in the notes we should not have charged you".
So I asked them to refund the money. Oh sorry no, we have no way to refund your money. All we can do is credit your next months bill.
What bullshit!!!
Any company that can charge with Visa can refund with Visa. Teksavvy just chooses not to.
I will NEVER recomend this company again.
Teksavvy is now BELL

Email with invoice not encrypted
I received my invoice today, and I noticed that GMail indicates the message isn't encrypted. I've looked at every email I've received in the past month and everything is encrypted with "Standard TLS" except emails from TekSavvy.
The email a few weeks ago about the price changes was also not encrypted. Is there a reason why TekSavvy isn't encrypting their outgoing emails, especially with attached invoices?

switch from POTS to tektalk. Questions about service
Hello. Considering tektalk, but have a few questions.
1. I have no interest in using any ATA device as a router for the rest of my network. is it possible to have the devices in this order: last mile --> Modem--> Router --> ATA device.?
2. Voice quality is of high importance to me. I noticed some other ATA devices available on the market rather than the Grandstream HT-502 offered by Teksavvy. Are other devices on the market have better quality or connectivity?
3. My cable speed is 18/0.5. Is that sufficient for tektalk? does tektalk use up alot of bandwidth.
4. Also, how do i connect this to my existing telephone line jacks in the house. does the existing line need to be disconnected?
5. do i have to hire a technician to install.
thanks all

[DSL] Please help! MLPPP with 3 Lines SLOWER???
Hi everyone - I'm completely stumped on this and need help please.
I've been running 2 x 5m/800k with MLPPP @ Teksavvy. I get about 8.5mb DL, 1.2/1.3 UL - Both make sense with overhead.
I just added a 3rd DSL line, and I'm now getting 12.5mb DL, But barely 1.1m UP! - The download makes sense, but the upload is actually slower??
I've talked to TekSavvy, but their tek said all the have to do is make sure my MLPPP login is on all accounts. Supposedly he's check this an my MLPPP specific login account IS on all 3. (Are there any other steps?)
I've take the laptop down, and setup PPPoE on each modem just to make sure that all DL/UL speeds are what they should be. They are all fine, and matched.
My Firewall is Sophos UTM 9 which has MLPPP support and it's DEAD easy to setup MLPPP and add another line (It's literally just another checkbox). Rebooted everything of course.
Can anyone help? DL speed has increased by UL speed is actually worse?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
John.

[Cable] My Dilemma: No Cable Internet Package Between 30/5 & 100/10 Mbps
I'm finding myself in a difficult position where I might have to switch to a different provider, as sad as it may be.
We're currently on a grandfathered 25/2 rCable plan (400 GB cap) using a Motorola SB6121 modem. We're considering our options to rise to a higher speed package, which we know would involve purchasing a new modem as the SB6121 is no longer officially supported (thanks, Rogers).
First we naturally considered going up to the 30/5 plan (again with the 400 GB cap) for $58/month, but when I looked around I found that Start.ca has a 60/10 plan for $65/month with the same cap.
TekSavvy's packages go from the 30/5 package to the 100/10 package, with oddly no package in between.
I'm well aware that TekSavvy exclusively does not count upload towards the cap, nor does it count bandwidth used between 2 AM and 8 AM towards the cap. Setting that aside, however, I can't justify getting the 100/10 package for our household, and the 30/5 package does not seem that worthwhile to us compared to Start.ca's 60/10 offering. ... It's a dilemma.
I've been a proud and vocal supporter of TekSavvy ever since we first became subscribers in late 2012, but not having a package slotted between the 30/5 and 100/10 packages now has me weighing the pros and cons.
To be clear: I don't expect TekSavvy to just conjure up a new tier for the sake of one customer. I just thought I'd provide the feedback.

'Hostage' on $49.95
i have an older motorola modem. I am stuck in a (recently increased)$49.95 plan unless i buy a new modem or change to dsl from cable. I cannot upgrade or downgrade.
Cant teksavvy find a solution to this? There are cheaper plans with better speeds available but i cannot move anywhere. I realize this still is cheaper than the ridiculous $65+ Average plans offered by bell and rogers....but. Still...

[DSL] Accessing modem through router
I've been using the settings in this post to access my smartrg through my Asus router. https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28945117-
Last night, I lost Internet but I also can't login to the modem through 192.168.1.1 either.
This morning I learned Bell is in the area/building fixing something that might be due a lightning hit.
My modem has no dsl or Internet light on.
So I connected directly to modem and can access it at the address above.
My question is, even if dsl is down, why the above configuration to access my modem through the router does not work anymore, isn't it only between the modem and the router?
Thanks.

MLPPP change
So just went through some pain and suffering trying to figure out why I could no longer bring up my second line in my MLPPP configuration.
It seems that the answer is that it now takes upwards of 60 seconds to start routing traffic to me after establishing the second PPPoE session. This used to be basically instantaneous.
So now I establish connection 1. Traffic starts flowing in both directions.
Bring up connection 2. It gets added to the bundle. Traffic stops flowing for approximately 60 seconds and then starts up again.
I know there aren't many of us MLPPP users out there but I'd be curious to know if others are seeing the same change in behaviour. I'm Bell DSL if that makes a difference.
I'd also be curious if anyone at TSI knows what gives with this (I've asked in my direct thread, but have yet to hear back and frankly have some suspicion that the tier one staff have somewhere between zero and no clue how MLPPP works given the questions I was being asked... (not trying to be rude, and I know it is a small chunk of the pie, but still the basic concept isn't that complicated - as an officially supported option, I kind of expect better - but this comes back to my pipe dream that we could write a test to get instant access to level 2 or something - sigh). Anyway enough of that - does anyone know what gives?

If you are interested and you have a good grasp on tech (as this is currently lightly supported by us), please post in the https://www.dslreports.com/forum/teksavdirect Forum and Keith & Milissa will take care of you.
Please ensure to use "TDSL50" in the subject line of your thread.
