While everything appears to be good. I'm posting to help trouble shoot this issue. And while I see a few threads with high pings, I believe this is a routing issue that has affected me for the past two months, or possibly something more..
Okay, so here we go. I recently bought Counterstrike Global offensive, and when I do match making, any of the official servers time out, I've done a trace route for all OFFICIAL servers and if I'm able to get in at all I have a 150+ ping.
Now the problem seems to resolve around routing from these specific servers...
For example, here's an official server tracert.

so with any server that routes through He.net is often canceled out. For the most part anyone i talk to (non teksavvy) they can Match make no problem in the game and get in a game in under 2 minutes. For me if it doesn't time out i will be kicked out and told to modify ping ranges..
Any way to look into this routing?? Helping me trouble shoot this issue that's not only frustrating but is downright pissing me off...

So is this a routing issue with teksavvy or something further down the line? I've been googling for days and found that a lot of teksavvy people have this problem to some extent, but not necessarily with counter strike..
Again this has been happening for about two months... So it's not a temporary thing..

Updated IPv6 Config For FreeBSD?
I recently noticed that my /56 prefix was no longer working, and so I've had no IPv6 for my LAN. Apparently TekSavvy has moved to assigning the /56 via prefix delegation with DHCPv6. Does anyone have this config working with FreeBSD?

[DSL] New FTTN modems to replace sagemcom duds?
Hey all,
I see there are some new SmartRG modems from TekSavvy. Are these going to let us Stringer folk get off the interleaved profile and onto fast path for 25/10 DSL?
I'm still renting my SageMcom and am an interleaved profile.
I read a few posts about the SmartRG firmware being updated -- is this going to be automatic like the SageMcom, or am I on the hook to check and update my firmware once if I get one of these?
I only check this board about once a year, so I'm not really in the know with all the latest.
thanks

flawed usage reports
I understand usage billing will be going live soon. Because of this I have been monitoring my usage all month to determine what their I should be in. The first 10 days revealed my avg usage was 5.99 GB per day. Now the fun: I was out of town all day yesterday. I got home in the evening and watched nearly 3 hours of Netflix before calling it a day. Imagine my surprise when checking my usage for the past couple of days I discovered that on sunday I had used 19.69gb! Not very likely! Add to that it says that on Saturday I had used 24.33! More mysteriously than that it shows I had used 25.33gb in off peak hours! Very strange since I was sleeping and computer was off during this time! I think before going live with this thing someone should be looking into the accuracy. My network is very secure so a hacker isn't the likely culprit.I am wondering if there are others out there who have questions regarding there usage. ps, I am on ccable with tsi. I have been a customer for 3 years and love this company. In fact I regularly send customers your way! We just need some investigation into this. Thank you.

Why such a big premium for unlimited on Teksavvy Cable 150?
This is probably covered in another thread so can someone please point me there - I tried searching but I don't find the search function on DSL all that great.
When I look at the pricing for the various speeds that Teksavvy offers for cable the premium for unlimited tends to be about 50-60% of the capped service. But for the 150 service there is well over a 100% premium. I assume this is due to the wholesale pricing from the likes of Rogers - is that correct? Or is there some other reason?

Any transition issues these days Rogers - > Teksavvy cable?
I really want to move from Rogers Ultimate to Teksavvy 150 service to get away from overrage fees. I was going to do this a few months ago but I was somewhat concerned about support issues at Teksavvy - many of which seemed to actually be Rogers' fault.
So what's the current status of switching from Rogers to Teksavvy cable 150? Are folks having issues or does it generally go fairly smoothly?
FYI - we generally blow through the cap largely due to streaming of video, especially Amazon Live Streaming (using Unblockus) as it uses WAY more bandwidth than Netflix, but NickJr shows switched from Netflix to Amazon last May. I am assuming that service should continue to work fine with the Teksavvy 150/10 service?

Anyone experiencing this issue?
I'm in the 150/10 package in Mississauga, websites won't load and time out, and it'll randomly come back up. Signal levels are fine, modem and router have been restarted several times.

[TekTalk] Hosting
My website, which Teksavvy hosts, went down yesterday. A whois shows it is in 'auto-renewal grace'.
I phoned about this yesterday, but the tech could not help and advised that I had to email dnsadmin@teksavvy. com, which I did. I have not received a reply nor is my website online yet.
Any Teksavvy guys here that can light a fire under dnsadmin?

[DSL] DSL6->DSL25 upgrade "completed." Still at 6MB/s.
Ooh boy.
November: I call Teksavvy to order DSL/6 for my new apartment, which I would move into on Dec 2. The installation is scheduled for Dec 3. I am aware that the then-current tenant is a subscriber to Telus, and that her subscription expires at the end of the month.
Dec 2: My friend gives me his Speedtouch ST516V6 modem as a housewarming gift. He is a former DSL/25 subscriber who is now with Shaw. "Actually, we just got around 20MB/s. But we didn't care," he says.
Dec 3: I hook up the modem and try my new Internet connection. I get dial-up speeds, and my tracerts show that my requests are going through Telus routers. I call Teksavvy and am told to wait until midnight for the installation to be completed.
Dec 4: I still get dial-up speeds, and my requests still go through Telus routers. It takes at least three calls to Teksavvy before I'm even told that the installation was not actually completed, and would be completed on Dec 13.
Dec 14: I finally have working Internet. Of course, I almost immediately call to order an upgrade to DSL/25. The upgrade is scheduled for Dec 27. I am told to be home on that day from 8-5.
Dec 27: From 8 to 5, I wait at home. I do not even use my headphones so that I don't miss knocks on the door, calls, etc. No-one shows up. In the evening, I walk around the block to look for Telus trucks (I'm in Vancouver, where Teksavvy resells Telus). There are none.
Dec 28: speedtest.net shows that I'm still getting DSL/6 speeds (usually 5.85MB/s). I call Teksavvy. The response: "Everything was completed on our end. The problem is the modem. You have an ADSL modem and you need VDSL now." When I point out that I should be getting speeds above 6MB/s even with that modem, I am told "not necessarily." After the call, I respond to a Craigslist ad for a Zyxel 14/32 modem that is specifically advertised to work with Teksavvy.
Dec 31: I meet the seller. I ask him how he acquired it and why he is selling it. He says that he is a former Teksavvy customer who is now with Shaw (sounds familiar?). I buy it.
Jan 1: I replace the ST516 with the Zyxel and do a speedtest. Obviously, speedtest.net shows that I'm still getting DSL/6 speeds. I call Teksavvy again. This time, they take information down for a ticket to submit to Telus.
Jan 2: I am notified that the ticket was submitted to Telus.
Jan 3: I receive a phone call saying: "The vendor's response is that you should test on different equipment." Exact words were "different equipment." On Twitter, I clarify with Teksavvy that I've already tested with two different modems. When asked on Twitter if I'd tried plugging the modems into the demarcation point, I respond that I'm in an apartment and do not have access to the demarcation point. I also email Teksavvy to point out that they should not go forward with billing me for DSL/25 when I'm still getting DSL/6.
Jan 4 (today): There is no reply to my email about billing. I call Teksavvy about further steps needed. I am told to, a) plug the modem into another computer and run a speed test from there, and b) test from the demarcation point. I do the first step and of course I get 6MB/s speeds again. For the second step, I respond that I'm in an apartment and do not have access to the demarcation point. I am then told to wait days for the next response. That's it. When I call accounting to point out that I'm scheduled to be billed for DSL/25 when I'm getting DSL/6, their response is that I need to pay for DSL/25 as scheduled and then ask for a credit when the issue is resolved. I make another call to Tech Support to ask if anything else can be done, and the response is (exact words): "We're doing everything we can."
Should I even continue to stay with Teksavvy, at this point?

[DSL] SmartRG - semi-minor problem...
Received my purchased SmartRG today. Since it's supposed to be a Christmas present from my wife she wanted to wrap it... but I digress. Anyway, I was surprised to see my TekSavvy userid and password already entered... oops, digressing again.
Original problem: DSL light would not go solid. Even with nothing plugged in but power and DSL cable. Ten seconds of fast flashes followed by 40 seconds of slower flashes, repeated. Tried resetting with pin in back. Waited for power led to go red, powered off modem while red led still on. When powered back on nothing had changed - ie. didn't appear to have reset. Still had my userid/password and DSL light still would not lock on. Resolved this problem by resetting the modem using using it's GUI 'restore default settings'. DSL now locks on.
But here's my real problem (finally!). I no longer have the TekSavvy basic GUI stuff - only the advanced stuff. It took me a while but I got the modem up and running now. But I would like the TekSavvy basic GUI back. Any suggestions?

Technicolor DCM476 How is it?
So I currently was using a ARRIS 600 something DOSCIS 2.0 on my 24 meg package on a local cable company (Yes this thread is out of place!) But I see that the Technicolor DCM476 is mostly used in Canada and would like some reviews on it. On Amazon there is only ONE review for that model lol. My Speed and everything works fine with my current modem, but my cable company is so small/local they just got DOSICS 3.0 last year along with the 24meg package and me being on that package only on 1 channel it kinda bogs things down with them also I`m there highest user :D
Anyway how is that modem? Amazon USA seller has one on sale for $60! brand new. I just want something reliable and after reading around It seems pretty good. I`m constantly pushing a ton of data through my connection so it would need to be able to handle that. My local cable company only offers Gateway Modems which I Don`t want lol.
Thanks for Any input.

High latency spikes while playing games?
I'm on rcable. These past couple days, around 8:30PM there is always a lag spike that sticks around until midnight, and even then my latency is slightly higher then what it normally is. This is all while I'm the only one doing anything on the internet. Everything else works fine, just my latency turns to crap. Has anyone else experienced this?
If it matters, I'm playing World of Warcraft...idk if that has any relevance or not.

and my upstream went from 5,120,000 to 5,632,000. the same speed bumps seem to apply to all other current shaw plans as well, and i'm curious if it applies for TSI and there customers, or if not when it will. plz see this topic

[DSL] Setup in Tomato router of a /29 address block
Hi All,
I need to purchase and set up a /29 address block as my current single static IP is no longer enough. I was informed by tech support that this isn't a problem, but that they can provide no advice or help with the configuration. So, if anyone has done this I'd appreciate feedback. Following is what I'd like to achieve:
Will have 3 separate physical hosting boxes, need one static IP for each. Also have a Trix box that will have its own ip. The rest of the internal network will basically feed off of one static IP, ie many internal to one external. The other IPs may shortly be used but can be ignored for the moment. I assume that if I want to be able to still reach the hosting boxes from my internal network I should use 1-to-1 nat for them, which i guess is fine. (advice either way is good, maybe re security?)
Is this doable? I'm currently running Tomato/MLPPP Version 1.21-mp3alpha4 on a Linksys because my Asus bricked the day after warranty ran out :P (another story) I'm hoping to shortly upgrade to a new router with gig ports etc, so changing the version of Tomato isn't an issue if necessary, and I also don't require MLPPP anymore.
Thanks in advance for any help!
