While pulling some new RG6 in my basement, I ripped out the telephone wire from a junction point. I went to repair it the next day and noticed that the live side of the line was shorted (Two metal conductors touching each others).
I rewired everything and went to the demarc to plug in a telephone: no dial tone.
I figure that the Bell line cards have some sort of protection against shorts, but I wonder if it auto-restores or a Bell tech needs to service their box.
I can't check frequently as my phone line is purely for the alarm system, so I have no DSL or telephone plugged into the line.
I would post this on the direct forum, but I figure that this isn't an account specific question and anyone with the knowledge could answer.
