Alright, I'm completely stumped.
I enabled the QoS setting on my router earlier today. When the router rebooted, my internet connection was gone. My router is an Asus N56U and my modem is a Zyxel P-600.
Things I have tried:
-resetting my modem and router to factory default settings
-directly connecting a PC to my modem, taking the router out of the equation
-have tried a different computer
-different ethernet cables and phone cables
-different phone jack
So pretty much, when I put my PPPoE username and password into my modem after a fresh factory reset, the connection test either just gives me a general error saying that the connection failed or it tells me that my username and password is incorrect and to contact my ISP. This is done with no router connected. Just a laptop connected to the modem with an ethernet cable. On my modem: DSL and power lights are green, amber ethernet light, and a red internet light.
I called teksavvy and after going through lots of troubleshooting steps, they said it sounds like an issue on their end and a support ticket was opened. I have trouble believing this, though. Why did the connection go down after my router rebooted? Is it possible that it fried my modem somehow? Like I don't have any idea how this could have happened. Everything is reset to factory defaults. It SHOULD work.
Since I don't have another modem to test, there is no way for me to know if my modem is working correctly or not.
Any ideas what could have happened? This sucks. I want my internet back.
