All this talk about rDNS and how it seems to address a lot of the "stupid" limitations we've had on Cable, well might static IPs be one of those new perks ? Sure, DHCP tends to be pretty persistent, until an outage knocks you offline, or in my case a costco-sized bulk pack of outages (oh well).
Every time it changes I have to go through a couple hours of updating whitelists, bouncing around VPNs and calling people to manually update their firewalls. Such is the plight of a home-based sysadmin. If rDNS makes static IPs possible, then by all means, charge me a few bucks and hook me up. I'm sure other advanced users would love this feature too.
