Long story short - my Apple Airport Express router only works with the Thomson DCM476 modem if the Airport Express is set to "Bridge Mode".
As I understand it, this mode lets the modem assign the router an IP. The default setting on the router is DHCP and NAT mode which results in the router assigning itself a 169.X.X.X IP address. In that mode, it seems the modem and router do not speak to one another.
So for the moment, I have access to the Internet using bridge mode. However, the router will only allow access to 1 device in bridge mode. If I want to use something else, I need to power down and restart the device with which I want to connect. Frustration.
I've been through the ringer waiting on hold for this problem. Can someone guide me through correcting the settings on either the modem/router to make things copasetic here?
Thanks,
Mike
