Outlook for higher upload rates

Can anyone from TS comment on the future of higher upload rates? I seem to recall cable has up to 20 Mbit on the upper packages. Anything expected to come to DSL in the coming years?

[TV] Sportsnet freezing?

Are there any known issues with Sportsnet freezing on Teksavvy TV? We made the switch a few weeks ago and are happy for the most part, but Jays games are freezing frequently on the 4K Fire Sticks we have. Usually after 10 minutes of play, it freezes. We don’t seem to be having any issues with other channels, so not sure if it’s something with Sportsnet, or Jays games in particular, but it has been noticeable.

Current offerings for TekSavvy are 30/60/150/250 but Rogers changed theirs to 75/150/300 a while ago. Does TekSavvy have any plans to change to the newer style?

Gaming issues with Cable on Shaw infrastructure

A number of people with sCable have been reporting disconnects during gaming. It seems like the modem stays online, but there is a very short time period where, for example, pings to google.com start timing out, then resumes again. It's been happening to me throughout the day, maybe more often closer to the late evening. Here's some threads of others having this issue: https://old.reddit.com/r/teksavvy/comments/btgjf6/overwatch_constantly_losing_connection_to_game/ https://old.reddit.com/r/teksavvy/comments/bxdkq9/my_favourite_new_screen_in_overwatch_mumble_and/ https://old.reddit.com/r/teksavvy/comments/byp310/i_lose_connection_to_the_internet_randomly_for_a/ Anyone here with sCable experiencing this as well?

[DSL] daily interruption

Hi everyone, Need some advice here. This started happening about 2 weeks ago after a reboot (May 25) Every day at exactly the same time, I get an internet dis-connect. It only lasts about 10 seconds, but if I'm downloading a file at that time, the download stops. I can see the yellow triangle on the internet icon in the system tray flash for about 10 seconds. After my reboot on May 25 it started happening daily at 11.38pm, but I since rebooted on June 4 and now it's happening daily at 2.41pm. I know it's not Teksavvy because I have another computer and it's not happening on that one. I turned off my Avast for a few minutes at that time, but it still happens. Is there some way to trace what's going on at that time? Some simple kind of diagnostic that will tell me why there's a break? Running Win7, using Tek DSL. Thanks for any suggestions.

[TV] App keeps requiring login

The Shield TV (Android) TV app forces a re-entry of username/password every 3-4 days. Is there a setting or solution to stop this happening? It's the most recent version. Also, the app won't recognize the keyboard, which makes entering username/password extra tedious. The other apps installed on the Shield have no problem working with the kb. Is there a setting for this?

[Cable] Download causes high ping and signal strength

$

Hi I recently had teksavvy cable installed and I have two questions I hope the community can help me out with: I noticed that unlike my older DSL service, downloading large files at full speed like a game from Steam will cause pings to shoot up up to 400-500ms. I had the same problem with DSL but only when maxing upload speed which made it more manageable. Is there a cable solution to steam downloads skyrocketing ping? Second, I read that signal strength should be less strong? I thought that stronger signal was always better. Currently it's set up as cable -> Antronix MRA1-15 amplifier -> 4 way splitter -> 4 way splitter that are connected to some TVs when we had rogers cable TV. This is what I get from the modem when connected at the first 4 way splitter right after the antronix amp. [Cable] Technicolor DPC3848v -- Ethernet Ports Stopped Working

Only yesterday (June 10, 2019) did i have my newly received Cable Modem / Router installed and activated by TekSavvy. The unit has the following specs: (DOCSIS WAN) Model: DPC3848V DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway Vendor: Technicolor Hardware Revision: 1.0 Bootloader Revision: 3.4.22.5 Firmware Version: dpc3800-v303r2042162-160620a.p7b Firmware Build Time: 06-20-2016 17:01:26 Cable Modem Status: Operational Wireless Network: Enabled (GATEWAY INFORMATION) Firmware Version: dpc3800-v303r2042162-160620a Gateway Mode: Router The installation went fine however after a few mins i could not access the ethernet ports on the back of the router. Sometimes the front ethernet LED lights would not show until i power cycled but in all cases it appears the router was not handing out new IP addresses despite DHCP being enabled. WiFi still functioned fine but anything attached to the ethernet ports (my laptop or powerline adapter) could not obtain an IP address. I've tried all ports. Setting my attached devices with a static IP (within the attached device) did not resolve things. Again, I've tried power cycling but that did not resolve the matter. I have not factory reset as i'm more interested in discovering why this happened suddenly and how to permanently stop it from happening again. If a factory reset resolved the issue temporarily it is useless as i still have devices attached to the ethernet ports and dont want them to be suddenly denied access to the internet. I read a similar issue about DPC3848 but those messages were some years back. As of 2019 has anyone resolved this issue? It seems like a bad firmware in need of an update. Thanks [att=1] [att=2]

Frequent daily disconnects (Toronto area)

Posting this as this has been going on for months, and the support team has made no progress resolving the issue. The issue: Every day the internet will disconnect multiple times for 2-3 minutes. All of the modem lights with the exception of the power light, will go dark, and then one by one come back. I have reset the modem countless times, used a different modem, have had three rogers tech come out on three separate occasions, and nothing anyone has tried has been able to resolve the issue. Each time I call in to inform teksavvy support of the issue, its the same thing, reset the modem.... im getting incredibly frustrated. I was finally able to capture a screenshot of the modem spectrum log while it was happening, please see below. Has anyone else seen this issue before? What are my options here?

TekSavvy TV Credential Caching

$

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but likely the easiest since I suspect this is frustrating for many other users. I recently subscribed to TekSavvyTV (which is great so far, family loves it), however our main method of consumption is via Fire TV. While the app functions just fine in normal usage, every time the Fire TV updates the credentials stored in the app are lost and I have to painstakingly re-enter the credentials on the stupid little remote. This is fine if it happens once a month, but this has hit us 3+ times in the past week and is infuriating. There should really be the ability for this app to cache credentials through updates, or use some sort of sign-in mechanism that is more friendly (e.g. handle auth via phone app and cast as with virtually all Chromecast enabled apps). This is incredibly poor design (whether by Teksavvy or Amazon, I don't know) and already has me considering dumping this service.

[Cable] WiFi extenders/boosters?

Lately I've been noticing that the WiFi coverage in the one part of the house is very low and it's causing the internet to drop out. Also, the link to our printer sucks. Do you guys know of a way that I can boost the WiFi so the link is stronger and has a quicker data transfer rate? Here's the thing.... 2.4GHz seems to have issues. Probably too many networks overlapping. 5GHz works great but it is a bit weaker. I would change all of my devices to the 5GHz network but it's a bit on the weak side. Any idea what I could do here besides running a wire or using a powerline adapter?

Can Teksavvy offer DSL over Bell FTTH?

$

Basically looking for an update to this old thread: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31243063-DSL-Can-Teksavvy-offer-DSL-over-Bell-FTTH I'm on rCable but I've had Bell's FTTH installed over a year ago. Would TekSavvy be able to use Bell's fibre to offer a similar package to their DSL service? If not, what if Bell completely removes all the copper in the neighbourhood? Or if I remove the NID and just cut the copper into the ground?

rCable firmware for CDA3-20

The original approved firmware for the CDA3-20 was 4.5.0.14. Current firmware lists say 6.1.3.31. Does this mean a firmware push happened to upgrade the older units? Possibly still underway? Interesting that this was noted with respect to Shaw territory, but there doesn't seem to be anything about Rogers at all: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32194274-Shaw-firmware-update-for-Hitron-CDA3 ***EDIT*** Actually, let's add some more details here, because this might just be a mistake somewhere.. IPv6 MSS Clamping

$

I'm experiencing the MTU/MSS issue and came across this thread: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29799531-DSL-IPv6-Google-connection-hanging Is this still expected to be an issue? Is this due to my own hardware or something on Bells infrastructure? Setting my mss-clamp6 to 1432 completely resolves my issues, and I assume it is pretty static, so I'll likely just leave it this way. Just wondering if there is any current status update on this? Interestingly, my DSLr speed test result went from a C to an A after tweaking the clamping settings for IPv4...it was previously at 1412, and I adjusted to 1452 based on my understanding of how things work.

What are the current pros and cons of the cable and dsl infrastructure? In particular, does TSI over Rogers have static IPv4 + IPv6 PD? I'm just trying to work out any options for better upstream throughput.
