MLPPP question

Hi All, So I did a search both here and on the internet, but I don't see any recent posts about this topic with regards to bonding VDSL connections. I'm currently with Bell on 25/10 service, looking to upgrade to a faster speed. Specifically, I would like faster upload. I notice Teksavvy still offers MLPPP for $4 / month (I was looking into this years ago but never went ahead). Does this mean I could use MLPPP on 25/10 to achieve 50/20? Or 50/10 to achieve 100/20? I currently have a Bell HH2000, which supports 2 DSL inputs. Is this what is required for MLPPP? Thanks!

[DSL] Configuring Airport Extreme for DSL use

I'm currently (successfully) using an old Linksys WRT54G router with Tomato plugged into a Speedtouch 516. I'm trying to replace the Linksys with an Airport Extreme, with no luck. The Speedtouch is set to bridge mode, the Linksys is configured with the PPPoE login info etc. I plug in the airport extreme, configure it for PPPoE, put in my Teksavvy login info... and Airport Utility shows me a green light for the Airport, but an orange light for my internet connection. DHCP is working across my LAN. There don't seem to be any other problems except for the fact that I can't get internet connectivity. When I replace the Airport with the Linksys, everything once again works fine. Any ideas? Is there some setting that I might be neglecting? There aren't many settings to begin with in the Airport Utility, so I'm at a loss as to what I could be doing wrong. I'm setting ipV6 to Automatic.

incompatible product on the line

this is probably a long shot but I hope someone has the same issue as me. I called Teksavvy to change my DSL profile from 25/10 to 50/10. I called 5 days later about the status and they said bell rejected my upgrade in speed because I have "incompatible product on the line" I don't have any product other than Teksavvy haven't had phone or tv ever with any company. the only company I have ever delt with is Teksavvy. I have called bell 3 times and they say they have no product with me or this house or the dry loop/gas line. I bought my house 4 years ago never had any other line on it. has anyone ever had the same problem?

[DSL] IPv6 issue

I am trying to get IPv6 working over DSL from Teksavvy. They set me up with a /64 for my router and a /56 for internal networks. The issue is that my router does not get an outside Internet address from the /64 but the devices on my internal network do get addresses via DHCPv6 from the /56 they assigned to me. Any ideas? The logs don't show much but I can tell my PPPoE login is successful. I've got an older Linksys EA6400 and a new TP-Link Archer C50 that both behave in the same way when I enable IPv6 on them. They aren't both on at the same time but I have swapped them in and out of the same spot to attempt to troubleshoot this problem and they both show the same issue. Thanks in advance!

[Cable] Need help understanding cable internet

Hi all, I've recently been having intermittent outages (during the last 2 weeks) on my cable internet service and am currently troubleshooting with Teksavvy via the Direct forum. I'm using the DCM475 modem in Markham (Rogers land). I've been told my upstream / return path power level is too low. My understanding was that the upstream power is adjusted according to the BER received at the CMTS. Is this true? If so, I don't really have much control over it, and if the power is too low, the CMTS should request my modem to increase its transmit power, right? I have a Rogers cable line entering my house in the basement, where a simple coupler is attached to a cable running upstairs to the room with the cable modem. There are no splitters or other connectors anywhere else, other than the faceplate/wall jack in the room. Signal levels are as follows:quote:Status Code: Operational Software Version: STAC.02.16 Software Model: a81a Bootloader: 2.3.0 Cable Signal Details Forward Path: Channel Frequency Power SNR BER Modulation 1 663.0 MHz 4.7 dBmV 39.7 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM 2 657.0 MHz 4.5 dBmV 39.8 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM 3 651.0 MHz 4.2 dBmV 39.9 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM 4 669.0 MHz 4.6 dBmV 39.8 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM 5 675.0 MHz 4.7 dBmV 40.0 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM 6 633.0 MHz 4.3 dBmV 39.9 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM 7 639.0 MHz 4.3 dBmV 39.9 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM 8 645.0 MHz 4.4 dBmV 39.6 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM Return Path: Channel ID Frequency Power Modulation 1 30.6 MHz 29.3 dBmV 64 QAM 2 23.7 MHz 28.0 dBmV 64 QAM 3 38.6 MHz 30.0 dBmV 64 QAM 0 0.0 MHz 17.5 dBmV QPSK When I lose service, return channel #1 dies, but all other channels are ok and I lose service. My router has no impact on the outage. During an outage, if I disconnect the router and plug a PC directly into the modem, I still will not have service. If I power-cycle the modem and service is restored, the router doesn't need to be rebooted. It works as expected. What's strange is that my service has been solid for many years and nothing has changed on my side. Signal levels have always been like this without issues. The next suggestion is for a Rogers tech to visit and investigate how to increase the upstream power. I assume they will just add a few splitters to accomplish this, but would this really solve the issue? For now I've added a splitter to attenuate the signal by a few dB, but it's still "out of spec", at around 32 dBm. I'll see if the outages persist. I guess I'm just looking for other opinions on what the problem might be. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

[Cable] Cogeco Packages

Curious to find out if any of the faster Cogeco packages will be offered through TekSavvy. For example I see on their site they have a 120/20 service for $ 86/month. Will this ever resold by Teksavvy? Frankly it's really the extra upload speed I'm after, but I believe this is the only package where 20 upload begins.

My month is coming up and I finally have time to switch. I would rather not leave Teksavvy but paying the same rate for 6/1 as I can get 15/1 a few other places is hard to justify to the bean counter here. So here I ask again, is there going to be any change to the commercial side in the near future? Gord

[DSL] DSL not authenticating

My DSL session just dropped at 11:27 and it cannot reconnect. Sniffing the packets shows a good connection to the DSL infrastructure with configuration requests and echos being acked, but the authentication request gets no response. I'm guessing that either the RADIUS server is having problems, or the Access Concentrator is having problems, I'm on KNTAON1614W.

Hey guys, I got an overwelhming response from my other thread this week (https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30952167-Share-Your-Background-Picture), so I figured I'd try my luck with another. I am not sure if there will be as much engagement but it's worth a shot! It's time we should all put a Face to the Username... As always, KEEP IT CLEAN! ;) LOL

From what i can find its a ok router and a quite stable modem which is fine for me since i use ac68u for my main router needs (Merlin firmware of course). [DSL] IPv6 LAN prefix stops routing within 2 days

Hi everyone. During this past year I've been experiencing a weird problem with my IPv6 connectivity which is used with my pfsense firewall running 2.3.2 although this has occurred with earlier versions as well. After a fresh reboot of my fw, my LAN will be able to successfully reach any IPv6 destinations (Facebook, Google, etc). I have DHCPv6 and SLAAC turned on for my LAN interface on the fw so any device on the LAN is assigned from the /56 I was given. I'm actually using the first /64 from it. After about 1.5-2 days of PPPoE uptime, I'll notice that my LAN is no longer able to reach destinations via IPv6. My first indication is my Chrome extension IPvFoo showing only IPv4 DNS resolutions for sites. If I reboot my fw or disconnect and reconnect the PPPoE session, I'll suddenly be able to route via IPv6 again. I've done quite a bit of troubleshooting on my end and discovered that when I do IPv6 pings/traceroutes from the fw's shell they are successful. I believe this is because it's using the WAN interface so it's going out via the Teksavvy assigned /64. If I source my pings/traceroutes with the LAN interface IPv6 address they all fail (they work if I have rebooted or reset the PPPoE session). Going to some Looking Glass sites and doing pings/traceroutes to my LAN prefix all seem to fail within the Teksavvy network even though I'm allowing the packets temporarily through my fw. Here is a ping and traceroute to my WAN interface: Router: gin-vcw-core3 Site: CA, Vancouver, VCW Command: ping ipv6 2607:f2c0:a000:1a1:201:2eff:fe5a:779d Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 2607:F2C0:A000:1A1:201:2EFF:FE5A:779D, timeout is 2 seconds: !!!!! At this point, I don't know if it's a configuration issue on my pfsense fw or if Teksavvy has done some change on their end over the past year that will timeout the /56 prefix or something to that end. I have preferred to hard code some IPv6 addresses on the LAN which required having to use the Advanced features of pfsense on the WAN interface configuration (see attached). Any suggestions? Another friend of my has the exact same setup except that he resets his WAN interface every couple of days so he never experiences this problem. I don't want to go that route and I don't think I should have to. Thanks for any tips. LoboTiger

Totally not happy with TekSavvy right now. Service went down for us at 01:45 on August 31. It's now 20:00 on September 1 and no ETA, no communication about the problem, nothing but the usual "have you tried turning it off and on again" stuff. There's apparently an issue affecting Vancouver but they can't tell me anything about what it is, when it will be fixed or anything else. But they've committed to sending me "daily updates". WTF? Yes, we've called in, had tickets opened, filled in the form of information that I know TekSavvy already has, etc... This is in a major metro area, not some small town with connectivity issues. Apparently this is a "shaw problem" but the Shaw customers in the building appear to have service working fine after rebooting their modems. ARGH!!! Myself and my friend are both going to cancel - neither of us can afford to have multi-day outages. Very disappointed.
