[TekTalk] tektalk ATA settings help.

I just recently signed up with tektalk along with 15/1 dsl internet service. I opted to purchase my own ATA which means I’m kinda stuck supporting it myself…and since I’m a VOIP newbie its taking a while to properly configure it to get the best sound quality on both ends. I’m using the cisco spa112 which is identical to the spa122 minus the built in router so the settings should be the same. By default the ATA comes programmed and works “OK” right out of the box but with the default settings I can hear my own voice/echo on my end and on the other end I get complaints of low voice volume. The main problem I’m finding is that all the searching online I come up with everyone has very different settings and everyone has different opinions on which settings work correctly for proper sound. So I have been experimenting with the ATA settings under voice/regional/miscellaneous and I want to compare to other tektalk users who have the same ATA and no sound complaints to see if I’m going in the right direction. These are the settings I’m at now and seem to have “decent” sound but im sure it’s not correct: FXS Port Impedance: 900+2.16uf FXS Port Output gain: -3 FXS port Input gain: -3 FXS port power limit: 4 And under the voice/line 1/audio configuration I had to change the preferred codec to G729a which I think made the best improvement so far as I read the G729a requires less upstream bandwidth for decent sound on the other end compared to the default 711u codec. Can some of the tektalk users take a few minutes of their time to check some of their settings for me and share them so I can compare what I’m at right now and if I should be looking at changing other settings to help improve the sound quality. Thanks in advance. -- it's your fault for choosing cable internet.
