Hello, I'm on TekSavvy VDSL 15/10 with a Sagemcom 2684 modem, and I've been getting the sync-no-surf syndrome intermittently the whole month.
I've shown that the syndrome on my modem and connection can be triggered by: BitTorrent usage (very reliable trigger, usually within 10 minutes), non-BT continuous uploading (such as netcat /dev/urandom), and sometimes ordinary web browsing (with BT explicitly disabled). It's very annoying to have these disconnections, and I find myself having to tip-toe my way around these usages and manually resetting my modem to reconnect.
Note that during the sync-no-surf syndrome, I can get through packets that are 152 bytes and below, but not 153 bytes and above:
C:\>ping google.ca -l 152 Pinging google.ca [173.194.43.120] with 152 bytes of data: Reply from 173.194.43.120: bytes=152 time=5ms TTL=58Reply from 173.194.43.120: bytes=152 time=5ms TTL=58Reply from 173.194.43.120: bytes=152 time=5ms TTL=58Reply from 173.194.43.120: bytes=152 time=5ms TTL=58 Ping statistics for 173.194.43.120: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 5ms, Maximum = 5ms, Average = 5ms C:\>ping google.ca -l 153 Pinging google.ca [173.194.43.120] with 153 bytes of data: Request timed out.Request timed out.Request timed out.Request timed out. Ping statistics for 173.194.43.120: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss)
My question is, what can I or TekSavvy do to solve this problem? I really want to have a stable connection where I can do various things like BT without trouble.
Some suggestions from reading the forums include: interleave mode, switching profile, limiting MTU, upgrading firmware, switching to SmartRG modem. Also, I wonder if I'm on one of those defective Lucent Stinger DSLAMs.
Help would be appreciated, thanks.
