I figured I'd warn others about my experiences so far as I [try to] become a customer of TekSavvy.
A month ago we decided to switch from Bell DSL to TekSavvy DSL, due to a combination of bandwidth limitations and cost - typical for many of their customers no doubt.
We were informed the internet switch-over would be easy. We arranged it for about a month out.
Finally the day came for the switch-over (yesterday). We were told we'd have to have someone home from noon until 9pm (9 hour slots?!).
At 8am Bell shut off our internet. So we waited. 3 people in the house, all day.
Nobody came.
As 9pm approached my wife called and said nobody has come by and asked when they'd arrive. The TekSavvy rep said the tech came by the house (no, he didn't), that we weren't home (yes, we were), and that he left a voicemail message (no, he didn't!).
So now they'll reschedule another hookup. For 5 business days! A week. We now have to go a week without internet because some tech didn't bother showing and lied about it. And at this point, I have no reason to believe they'll show up next week either.
So I'm without internet for at least a week and there's nothing I can do about it.
TekSavvy reps have given us 14 days credit, but claim there is nothing they can do - that they must provide 5 business days notice to their 'vendor'. I'm reasonably certain this vendor is Bell. So basically I'm relying on the service provider that I just quit to now 'help me', and - so surprisingly - they snubbed me. And when they don't show up again next week, then what happens? What is my recourse here? According to TekSavvy, I have none. I'm at the mercy of a company (Bell) that has no incentive or motivation to help at all... and TekSavvy who is impotent to do anything about it.
I will update this thread with information and events as they come to pass.
Edit: A TekSavvy rep has just informed me that they are trying to escalate this issue (but that it may not result in a sooner date).
Edit 2: A TekSavvy rep has informed me that after making some calls they've been able to get the date moved up by 1 day, so it will be a 4 business day (6 day) wait.
